Sadie Flower
BIOGRAPHY
Sadie has always been around Music and Dance. Her dad Dave was a DJ when she was young so she would listen to all genres and learn to appreciate a wide variety of music.
From the age of 3, Sadie started Dance classes in Tap, Ballet and studied Gymnastics Representing a Leeds team in Competitions.
During Primary School Sadie was what you would call a 'Tom boy'.Part of the Boys football team and will boast that she scored the first EVER goal for the school! Yet still managed to balance her girly side of being a Dancer.
Sadie attended a Dance school studying Disco, Freestyle, Rock n' Roll, Latin, Balllroom. Her passion for Dance was easy to see, and the 'Power in the Flower' helped her win British dancing competitions for over 10 years.
Keeping focused whilst attending Intake Performing Arts College helped Sadie learn and grow as a Dancer/Choreographer, She first found success in the Commercial Dance industry by entering and Winning the first televised Dance competition:
'BUMP N GRIND' 2004.Sky tv channel 'Trouble'.
"This competition was hard work, we got treated like we was in the army. It was a very strict regime but it was a great experience. It opened my eyes to the hard work you need to put in if you want to succeed as a dancer.I knew it was what i wanted to do with my life.
I knew my mum and dad would love me no matter what but the determination i had was installed in me from my parents . They brought me up saying "just do your best".
luckily my best was good enough to Win the competition.
Bump n Grind was the warm up for what was to follow the year after."
STRICTLY DANCE FEVER (Sadie's Story)
My family and friends mentioned to me that they had seen an advertisement for dancers to audition for a new Dance TV Show on the'BBC'. My first reaction was 'I cant enter another competition after winning BnG the year before' But after finding out that if you was lucky enough to get through to the televised rounds you have the chance to create your own choreography in many Dance Genres .
That was it , i filled out the application and i got an audition.I attended the Manchester auditions and then after performing my own choreographed piece i got through to the London Heats.
I can remember that morning travelling on the tube to the BBC ,hoping that i would find a great partner .The Mentors were there partnering everyone up and breaking strong partnerships up that had been dancing together for years. Everyone was looking around checking out who would be good for them,it was a little bit weird.
I got partnered with about 5 partners through out the day.
For those of you who know me or have seen me i am not the tallest person alive and so therefore i needed someone to match my height or just a little taller. Whilst warming up i can remember seeing a guy wearing a bandana moving and shaking his hips warming up for salsa . i thought oh ok he can move and he looks the right height (sorry joseph!!) Luckily we got partnered together ,at the right time.
After seeing us perform the 3 routines the Judges were still indecisive,we then had to create our own choreography to 'She Bangs' (Ricky Martin) So myself and Joseph got to work . We only had about 10mins .
That Routine i think finalised that we were going to be partners, we performed not just a dance routine but a storyline along with comedy technique and strong movements that fit well with the music . After a long day the Judges were ready to announce who was going to partnered together and which couples had made it to the Final Televised Heats.
Myself and Joseph got called out and was through to the next stage.
We then met up in Nottingham where Joseph is from and he came up to Leeds to rehearse with me ready for the Televised Final heats .
For the Televised Final heat we had to create the whole look of our audition: make up ,dance routine and costume . Myself and Joseph went Shopping in leeds to try and find the right out fit to wear, after spending the day together i could tell that we would be friends forever as we both loved fashion !
He was just like a girl friend,coming into the girls changing room to see what i looked like ,we would mix different colours together to try and capture the classy but funky look. I was really happy with what we came up with .We wore all white with Aqua Accesories and performed to my favourite artist USHER 'caught up'.
Our hard work paid off and we got voted through to live in the mansion with 9 other couples . Now this is when the Hard work was to start.
Over 12 weeks of hard work Sadie and Joseph got voted back in to reach the final of Strictly DanceFever , They wowed the judges with past routines and their new Freestyle routine which earnt enough votes and points for them to be crowned Strictly Dance Fever Champions .
